Bolles Announces Partnership with Elevate to enhance Age Group Programming
Starting with the 2024-2025 season, Bolles Swimming has contracted with Elevate Performance Swim Academy to enhance and guide the athletic development programming for Age Group programs. Lead by Avery Adams from Charleston, SC - Elevate will educate coaches and provide on-land programming for Great White, Hammerhead, Tiger, and Mako groups.
Starting with the 2024-2025 season, Bolles Swimming has contracted with Elevate Performance Swim Academy to enhance and guide the athletic development programming for Age Group programs. Lead by Avery Adams from Charleston, SC - Elevate will educate coaches and provide on-land programming for Great White, Hammerhead, Tiger, and Mako groups.
This partnership began in the 2023-2024 season through Avery’s contributions as a guest in staff development meetings and has grown as a personal and professional relationship with the Bolles coaching staff. Following March championship meets, coaches began to use Elevate’ s dryland programming to evaluate the fit and format for Bolles student-athletes. We are excited to formalize the partnership moving forward, adding a consistent resource for the age group coaching staff.
In evaluating ways to improve our overall program, Bolles coaches identified the need for better athletic development in our young student-athletes. Bolles strives to provide ‘Whole Athlete Development’ in which we address the physical, physiological, technical, mental, and emotional aspects of developing a student-athlete. This partnership specifically focuses on our ability to physically develop young swimmer’s bodies to be more athletic in the pool. Our search for solutions lead us to conversations with several great coaches, experts, and consultants in the past three years. Avery became a trusted partner because of his relational approach with our coaches and athletes. Avery & the Elevate program focuses on conversation with the coaches using our resources of time, space, facilities and staff while crafting a program that builds on the tradition of excellence at Bolles for our student-athletes.
Head Coach Peter Verhoef shares the following about the new partnership;
“From the beginning Avery stood out to us a trusted friend and colleague because of how he spoke about developing and caring for young athletes. He takes the time to coach every level of swimmer and applies simple and fundamentally sound principles to everything he does. This is the model of coaching we strive for at Bolles so working with him will be a great fit. He has already added so much to our meetings and conversations because his approach embodies not just physical work but mental skills, teamwork, and coaching collaboration. I am excited for our coaches to have this opportunity, and for our young swimmers who will benefit the most as the reach farther into their careers because of Elevate’ s programs.”
Student-athletes will not see any major changes to their current routine or schedule at the pool. Coaches for each group will regularly work with Avery to plan out impactful dryland sessions and how to be better coaches when leading them through foundational athletic movements that will grow with them throughout the duration of an athlete's career. Growth will be slower than a traditional strength program as we look to create that foundation of movement to build strength in a positive & healthy way, in and out of the pool to prepare them to continue their swimming into high school & beyond.
